Ryno’s Fine Sports Collectibles near Champagne-Urbana, home of the University of Illinois, regularly hosts Fighting Illini players for autograph sessions. As a regular at home games, the players have come to recognize Ryno as a close community member and fundraiser.
When Ryno decided to host five basketball players for a signing, he wanted to make an event out of the special occasion. He reached out to me to design a ticket that could also be kept as a collectible. With the name “Flyin’ Illini Day” chosen, I built the ticket design around a typographic logo. The day was a large success, and the team was excited with the final design.

Logo Design
With the name already selected before the project began, I knew I wanted to create something that leaned 100% into basketball. The typography and imagery needed to reflect the game. Clean, crisp artwork and tight typography, and a sense of movement made the logo come off the page. Little flourishes brought the piece together.
